Grievance Redressal Mechanism for Faculty, Staff and Students
Definition:
Grievance is a feeling of resentment which might affect any individual during his/her tenure at VIHTM. We at VIHTM work towards an environment of learning, freedom, and happiness. Redressing grievances of the stakeholders are primary objectives of each one working in the Institute. We at VIHTM shall ensure that grievances of any type are resolved.
Grievance Redressal Procedure:
Offline:
- For an Offline Grievance Redressal procedure for students, the Class Teacher is the first point of Contact for putting forward the grievance.
- The grievance can be written formally and submitted or informed verbally to the principal.
- Those who do not want to report grievances directly to teachers can undertake the online medium.
- On receipt of a Grievance from a concerned person, the grievance shall be brought forward in front of the Grievance Redressal Committee.
- The Grievance Redressal Committee shall meet and deliberate on a solution and discuss the same with the aggrieved.
- If the aggrieved is not happy or do not accept the solution, the matter should be escalated to the Principal of the Institute for further deliberations and an appropriate solution.
Establishment of Anti Ragging Committee
VIHTM Rajkot is proud of all its students and works towards grooming them into fine human beings for the society. VIHTM works towards rooting out the menace of ragging in all forms within the Institution and follows a strict Anti-Ragging policy in the Institution.
DEFINITION OF RAGGING:
Ragging is
- A conduct whether by words (spoken or written) or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating, or handling with rudeness any other student
- Any Students indulging in any rowdy or in-disciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, psychological harm, raise fear, embarrassment, sense of shame, adversely affect the physique or psyche of a junior student.
- Abetment to Ragging is equivalent to Ragging.
MEASURES FOR PROHIBITION OF RAGGING ON CAMPUS:
- The Institute considers Ragging in all forms as a cognizable offence.
- Ragging undertaken with female students leading to atrocity shall be considered at par with relevant laws.
- Strict action shall be undertaken by the Institute against any student involved in Ragging or abetment to Ragging under different provisions of the law.
MEASURES FOR PREVENTION OF RAGGING ON THE CAMPUS:
- Anti Ragging Poster on the Campus
- Anti Ragging Leaflet in Admission brochures.
- Anti Ragging Undertaking to be signed by all students.
- Formation of Anti Ragging Committee and watch groups.
- Anti Ragging induction to Students.
- Printed leaflet to new students indicating numbers and procedures of the Anti-Ragging Cell of the Institute.
- Sensitization programs between Seniors and Fresher Students, Healthy Interactive sessions.
- Formation of mentoring cells within the Institute.
- Internal Anti-Ragging squad.
- Immediate action against students undertaking ragging and abetment to ragging.
PUNISHMENTS FOR RAGGING:
The following punishments, shall be implemented against student(s) who follow ragging practices or abet ragging within the Institution.
- Suspension for a period from attending Classes.
- Guardian Call.
- Debarring from attending Examination.
- Fine
- Expulsion from the Institute.
- Police Complaint

Establishment of Online Grievance Redressal Mechanism
- For an Online Grievance Redressal Procedure, the student can email his /her grievance to the following email id’s.

# All grievances related to maintenances additionally can be verbally spoken with Mr. Rounak Garasiya, Laboratory Assistant cum Maintenance In-charge, VIHTM or written in the Maintenance Register and escalated to the principal if resolution is not sought.
The Ombudsman for the Institute is Ex-Officio member as appointed by Saurashtra University.
Establishment of Internal Committee
We at VIHTM, believe that the principles of justice, humanity and dignity should be dispensed irrespective of caste, creed, social status and gender of a person.
Sexual Harassment is any form of unwelcome sexual behaviour that is offensive, humiliating or intimidating. VIHTM respects all its women (students and staff members). VIHTM is an equal opportunity employer and the organization constitutes of around 40 % women workforce. The Institute has an INTERNAL COMPLAINT COMMITTEE that investigates matters of gender discrimination and Sexual harassment. Sensitization is a big aspect towards maintaining a parity in gender equality and the Institute through its initiatives strive to recognize and uplift its women workforce.

Non-Discriminatory Committee
VIHTM Rajkot follows a policy of non-discrimination against any student based on caste, sect, or religion. The Institute respects all students from different religions and castes and adheres to all standard notifications as laid down by the government. It works towards implementing all schemes implemented by the government for upliftment and betterment. The Institute has a committee that oversees any discrimination based on religion or caste.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell
In our college, IQAC has been introduced in July 2006. The IQAC in our college is responsible for developing and implementing various academic and administrative policies and procedures to improve the quality of education provided by the institution. It is also responsible for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of these policies and procedures, as well as the overall performance of the institution.
Objective
- Enhance quality of education and activities by promoting best practices, faculty development, and adherence to standards.
- Ensure institutional accountability through transparent processes for monitoring, evaluation, and stakeholder engagement.
Strategies
IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for
- Internal quality assurance, including audits and assessments.
- Outcome-based education and learning assessment.
- Institutional planning, performance evaluation, and reporting.
- Feedback collection from stakeholders.
- Continuous improvement based on feedback and data.
- Establishing quality enhancement cells/committees.
- Capacity building for faculty and staff.
- Documentation, reporting, and transparency.
- Dissemination of best practices.
- Collaboration with external quality assurance agencies.
The key functions of IQAC include:
- Developing and implementing academic policies and procedures to ensure that the curriculum is relevant and up-to-date.
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve faculty development and training.
- Conducting regular assessments of student learning outcomes and using the results to improve the teaching and learning process
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve infrastructure and facilities.
- Ensuring that the administrative processes are efficient and effective. The main objective of an IQAC is to ensure that the institution is constantly improving and providing the best possible education and research opportunities to its students.
