Highgate Academy offers a new approach to study for young and mature students who wish to learn English or develop their career in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. Highgate Academy delivers a purpose designed Post Graduate Programme that allows entry for persons from a variety of academic disciplines. Highgate Academy also offers a Certificate and Higher Diploma for those students who are embarking on their career in the industry. A broad based selection of purpose designed EFL courses are offered throughout the academic year as both stand alone language development courses and supportive studies for students wishing to proceed with the vocational courses. Highgate Academy programmes are designed to equip students with a broad understanding of the dynamics of the industry whilst concentrating on the essential aspects of professional management skills. Students will be introduced to topics through a disciplined academic rigor comprising 20 hours per week of classroom tutor lead lectures, seminars and tutorials. These class-based activities will be further enhanced by a structured personal study programme of 10 hours per week in addition to assignments and project work. Throughout the programme of study students will be expected to conduct personal research and private study.

At the completion of the academic programme students will be required to undertake a period of assessed training work experience of 6 to 12 month's duration. This internship period will carry academic credits and is required for formal graduation. Following the practical work experience phase, some students may wish to continue their studies at the Bachelors and Masters level.

Highgate Academy has modern well-equipped classrooms with full audiovisual equipment. Tuition is provided by a team of highly qualified industry professionals who employ pro-active teaching methods. The restaurant training lab provides an ideal setting for developing practical skills and gaining product knowledge. Highgate Academy provides a busy schedule of industrial visits to further develop the real world approach that underlies the curriculum style.

Off-campus accommodation is provided with host families who ensure a comfortable, friendly and secure living environment. The town of Newhaven is centered around an attractive fishing harbour that also offers frequent cross- channel ferry services to Dieppe in France. The centre of London is just over an hour away by express train service and London's Gatwick Airport is about 45 minutes drive. The world famous seaside resort of Brighton lies just 12 miles along the coast and offers a wide variety of daytime and evening recreational facilities. 

Highgate Academy offers a challenging academic program focusing on real world practical issues facing managers of the hotel, restaurant and tourism industry in the 21st. Century.

The Courses available are:

1. Combined Business English and Post-Graduate Diploma in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management
Duration: 20 weeks study followed by an optional 1 year paid internship. Any Graduate can apply. 

2. Certificate course in Hospitality Supervision: (NVQ level 3) leading to Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management
Duration: 32 weeks academic course, campus based comprising 8 x 4 week modules of study. Academic study to NQV level 3. Any HSC or 12th Grade graduate can apply.

3. Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management
Duration: 32 weeks academic course, campus based comprising 8 x 4 week modules of study. Academic study to NQV level 4. Certificate level graduates only.

4. Modular Structure Diploma in Management and Business Administration
Duration: 32 weeks academic course, campus based comprising 8 x 4week modules of study. Academic study to NQV level 4. Certificate level graduates only.

Important Note: All the students will be required to purchase a comprehensive personal insurance to cover their stay in the UK. This must be in place prior to traveling to the UK.
